Aims of the Society
Stirling Astronomical Society (Scottish Charity SC 032272) is open to all those aged 11 or over who have an interest in astronomy.
We welcome beginners, experienced observers, and anyone with an interest in any aspect of astronomy such as variable stars, comets, aurorae, meteors or space science.
Stirling Astronomical Society meets from September to May during the year. For the 2023-2024 season, lecture meetings will be held jointly with the Association of Falkirk Astronomers.
Stirling venue: Stirling Highland Hotel, Spittal St, Stirling FK8 1DU.
Falkirk venue: Old People's Welfare Hall, Laurieston, FK2 9PS.
Lectures are held on the second Friday (Stirling) or second Wednesday (Falkirk) in each month, beginning at 7:30pm.
These public lectures are free and anyone with an interest in astronomy is welcome to attend, whether a Member of the Society or not.
Stirling Astronomical Society holds informal Members' Evenings on the last Friday of each month, from October to May. These take place at the Stirling Highland Hotel, Spittal St, Stirling FK8 1DU, from 7:30 to 9:30pm.
Stirling Astronomical Society regularly runs a series of Evening Classes in Stirling. These are open to anyone over 11 years old with an interest in Astronomy and topics vary in each course. Classes run once a month on Thursday evenings at the Stirling Highland Hotel, Spittal St, Stirling FK8 1DU 7:00 to 9:00pm.
