Although the nights are short at this time of year, the Moon still makes a good target. Shortly after First Quarter a number of distinctive features are visible, including the three craters Ptolemaeus, Alphonsus and Azarchel (below centre), and the Appenine Mountains (Montes Apenninus) and crater Plato towards the top.
