This close-up shows crater Tycho (left of centre, with central peak) with Clavius below. As Lunar dawn approches, the right hand side of Tycho is still in deep shadow, and the arc of smaller craterlets in Clavius is picked out clearly by the light of the rising Sun. The low angle of the sunlight also highlights the texture on the crater floor.
