The first Full Moon of 2026, the Wolf Moon. A winter Full Moon is always high in the sky, and in early January the Earth is at perihelion, maximising the amount of sunlight reaching the Moon. This year the Wolf Moon occured just two days after perigee. Together, these effects combined to make this year's Wolf Moon especially large and bright.
