The Flaming Star and Tadpole Nebulae in Auriga
© Douglas Cooper all rights reserved.
The Flaming Star (IC405) and the Tadpole (IC410) - two of the most distinctive objects in Auriga. The Flaming Star (right) is an emission and reflection nebula, energised and illuminated by the variable star AE Aurigae, and the Tadpole (left) is a star forming region. The tadpoles are streams of gas surrounding newly-forming star systems. Imaged using an SQA 70 mm telescope with narrowband filters.
