Stirling Astronomical Society Gallery

The North America and Pelican nebulae in Cygnus, imaged using narrowband filters. This image has been coloured in the Hubble Palette, as used in many images from the Hubble Space Telescope. In this palette, Hydrogen-α emissions are coloured green, Sulphur (SII) emissions red, and Oxygen (OIII) emisssions blue, giving the image this characteristic green-blue and gold appearance.
