Red aurora captured during star trails timelapse

Following a large CME on the 24 October, aurorae were again seen in the Stirling area on Saturday night, 26 Oct. This red glow was captured in the northern sky as part of a star trials sequence. These red glows, from forbidden lines in the Oxygen spectrum, tend to happen higher in the atmosphere and are therefore visible from a greater distance. The absence of a preceding green aurora suggests that on Saturday night the main activity took place some distance north of Stirling.
