From top to botton in this image, the four craters Langrenus, Vendelinus, Petavius and Furnerius form a distinctive chain along the eastern limb of the Moon, to the east of the Nectaris basin. Best seen in the early crescent at the start of the lunar month, and again shortly after full moon, these craters range from 120 to 180 km in size. Petavius, the largest of the four, has a distinctive multiple central peak and a straight rille running from peak to rim.
